Since then, for over 90 years, Tatko has invested in various other industries and successfully represented many foreign companies in Turkey. Tatko continues to be one of the largest independent tire companies in Turkey.

    Tatko was founded in 1927 as the distributor of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Dodge Brothers in Turkey. It was established by Ahmet Emin Yalman, Mehmet Rifat Yalman & Kemal Halil Tanır.

    Since then, Tatko has invested in various other industries and successfully represented many foreign companies in Turkey. Tatko continues to be one of the largest independent tire companies in Turkey.

    TATKO milestones

    • 1927 Tatko is officially established by signing a distribution agreement with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
    • 1928 Tatko starts distributing Dodge Brothers' vehicles (before Dodge merges with Chrysler) in Turkey. This is a major step in developing the transportation sector of the young Turkish Republic.
    • 1928-1930 Takto undertakes the construction of the Ankara- Kayseri Railroad bed and for the first time introduces the use of mechanical equipment in railroad building.
    • 1930 Tatko introduces Caterpillar and Case tractors, harvesters and other agricultural equipment to the Turkish farming industry.
    • 1935 Curtis Wright, represented by Tatko, signs a contract with the Turkish government to build Hawk Hunter aircraft in Turkey. Tatko also acquired the representations of Sperry Equipment and Irving airchutes.
    • 1939-1945 During World War II, the scarcity of raw materials affects the tire industry and forces Tatko to build a rubber and retreaded tire facility, which is later converted into a Goodyear Tire Factory and continuous operations until 1967.
    • 1950 In the post-war era, Tatko helps build Turkey's infrastructure with Dodge and Euclid trucks with various functions and capacities.
    • 1961 Tatko cooperates with Goodyear International Corporation of the USA to establish Goodyear Lastikleri T.A.Ş. in Izmir, Turkey. At the outset the company has only one factory and is able to capitalize on the well-established countrywide dealer network of Tatko.
    • 1962 Tatko and Chrysler Corporation of the USA jointly establish the first truck manufacturing facility in Istanbul. The first Turkish-made truck rolls off the assembly line in 1964.
    • 1967 Billur tuz is the first and largest salt refinery in Turkey, mainly producing table salt.
    • 1985 Tatko supplies construction and transportation equipment to the Atatürk Dam, the large South Eastern Anatolian Development (GAP) project.
    • 1991 Due to the introduction of unisteel truck tires to the Turkish market, Tatko builds the first retreaded tire factory utilizing the cold system.
    • 1998 Tatko establishes Tatko Iş Makinalari retreading facility to meet increasing demand from construction and infrustructure projects for OTR tires.
    • 2004 Obtains tire distributorships for the Michelin, Cooper and Amtel Vredestein brands.
    • 2008 Tatko establishes a subsidiary in Kazakhstan.
    • 2010 Establishes LastikPark, Turkey’s largest tire franchise network.
    • 2014 Begins offtake production of Tatko Brand tires in Turkey with export to over 50 countries.
